PA Online Circuit Exceeds Expectations
The big numbers are something of a surprise for the series. WSOP PA, one of four poker rooms serving the Pennsylvania online poker community, jumped into the market in July of last year — just six months ago — but had something of a lukewarm reception in the beginning.
The first Online Circuit event in PA had more than $600,000 in guarantees, and ran in the second full month of operations for WSOP PA. However, the series fell short of the promised prizes and players got some extra overlay value in addition to the Gold Rings.
The following month, in October, the operator put on another big series, the Fall Online Championships. There was more than $1 million guaranteed in the 66-game series, but in the end, it missed that mark by almost 25%.
So, it was something of a surprise to see such high numbers for the first series of 2022 and it certainly bodes well for the operator, as it heads into its first full year in the market. Right out of the gate, the series started with a bang — the first event was a huge game that more than doubled its guarantee.
The opening event was a PKO game that had $40,000 guaranteed for a $215 buy-in. A whopping 444 entries were recorded in the game, bringing the mountain of cash in the prize pool to $88,800.
None of the other five games managed to do quite that well, but they all went well past their guarantees. Three more games had more than 50% extra in prizes, and the worst-performing game so far still beat its guarantee by 31%.

The full remaining schedule is below, and, based on the current pace, the total prizes remaining could reach $500,000 or more. Regardless of how the rest of the series goes, the 2022 WSOP PA Online Circuit is already set to be the biggest event in the operator’s history in the Pennsylvania poker market and marks a nice turnaround from the overlaid series of 2021.
