Pennsylvania’s sports wagering market slowed in May 2026, with total handle falling to $595,569,802, a 9.1% year-over-year decline, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). Taxable sports wagering revenue also dropped to $52,642,686, down 11.4% from May 2025.

The reported hold for May sports wagering was 11.4%, the latest figure highlighted in coverage of the month’s betting results. The same reporting described the downturn in volume as a seasonal slowdown.

PGCB data also showed that sports wagering generated $18,951,367 in tax revenue during May 2026. Over the same period, total gaming tax revenue from all forms of gaming, including fantasy contests, was $269,949,950.

While sports wagering weakened, PGCB said its broader gaming results remained firm. The agency reported record total gaming revenue of $625,467,775 in May 2026, up 3.93% compared with May 2025.

iGaming revenue rose as well, reaching $254,825,042 in May 2026, an increase of 9.44% from May 2025. Against that backdrop, coverage described sports wagering as an exception among other strong gaming sectors.

At the operator level, PGCB reported that Hollywood Casino at Penn National recorded the state’s largest sports betting handle in May, at $201,108,994, with sports wagering revenue of $21,585,494. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows followed with a handle of $189,111,510 and sports wagering revenue of $15,106,669.

PGCB also reported smaller single-property figures for May, including $3,120,168 in sports wagering revenue on a $44,600,602 handle at Hollywood Casino York. Next month’s figures will show whether the May slowdown persists or gives way to stronger betting volumes.
