Real money online casinos in Pennsylvania continued to show healthy growth year-over-year in June, despite a decline of more than 9% month-over-month, data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) show.
While online poker grew at a modest pace from the year before, revenue from online sports betting shrunk by more than 40% year-over-year. June revenue was less than half of what it was the month prior.
Sports Betting Revenue Down 42.5% Year-Over-Year
Revenue from online sportsbooks in Pennsylvania totaled $21.6 million in June, down 52.1% from May ($45.1 million), according to the PGCB. Although June is usually one of the slowest months for sports betting, revenue was down 42.5% year-over-year ($37.6 million).
Valley Forge Casino, which partners with FanDuel Sports PA, led the vertical with $10 million in revenue in June. But revenue was down 60.3% from May ($25.1 million) and was also off 49.3% from June 2021 ($19.7 million).
Barstool Sportsbook and DraftKings Sports PA, which both operate under the land-based casino license of Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, were second in the vertical with $3 million in revenue in June, down 62.5% from May ($8.1 million) and down 52.7% year-over-year ($6.4 million).
Hollywood Casino Morgantown’s online sportsbook, BetMGM Sportsbook PA, grossed $2.6 million in June, a decrease of 20.4% month-over-month ($4.5 million). The sportsbook was down 19.7% year-to-year ($3.2 million).
June was the lowest month for overall online sportsbook revenue — and Valley Forge, too — since February 2022. Total revenue was $21.5 million that month, while Valley Forge grossed $6 million. June was also the worst month for the Meadows partners since September 2020 ($1.1 million) and Morgantown since August 2021 (also $2.6 million).

Record Lows for Poker at BetMGM, Borgata, and PokerStars
PA online poker apps made $2.6 million in revenue in June. That marked a 7.5% decline month-over-month ($2.8 million), but revenue was up a modest 7.6% year-over-year ($2.4 million). It was the lowest month for revenue since July 2021, when it also totaled $2.6 million due to rounding.
PokerStars PA, the perennial leader in the vertical, led the way again in June with $1.6 million in revenue — a record low. Revenue for the Mount Airy Casino partner was down 6.7% from May ($1.7 million) and was off 19.6% from June 2021 ($2 million).
Excluding the two days they were both live at the end of April 2021, the BetMGM Poker PA App and Borgata Poker PA — which operate under the land-based licenses for the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and Rivers Casino Philadelphia, respectively — also hit record lows for monthly revenue in June.
BetMGM grossed $227k from poker in June, down 11.2% from May ($255k). Meanwhile, online poker brought $63k to Borgata, 25% less than it made the month prior ($83k). BetMGM was off 30.3% year-over-year ($325k) while Borgata was down 20.9% ($79k).
The newest online poker room, WSOP PA, grossed $692k in June, down 6.3% from May ($739k). It was WSOP’s lowest month since December 2021 ($640k). Five months since its July 2021 launch were also lower for revenue.

Online Casino Revenue Up 16% Year-Over-Year
It wasn’t all bad news in June — online casino revenue, which totaled $100 million, was up 16% year-to-year ($86.5 million). Revenue was also up year-over-year for two of the state’s three most prominent online casino operators.
Overall online casino revenue was down 9.2% from May ($110.5 million). It was the lowest month for the vertical since February 2022 ($99.5 million).
Operators on the Hollywood Casino license — Barstool Casino PA, BetMGM Casino PA, and DraftKings Casino PA — had $41.8 million in revenue in June, down 7.6% from May ($45.2 million) but up 21% from June 2021 ($34.6 million).
Rivers’ partners of Borgata Casino PA, BetRivers Casino PA, and SugarHouse Casino PA were in second place with $25.4 million in June revenue, down 5.4% from May ($26.9 million). But the group increased its revenue from $23.3 million in June 2021, a 9.3% increase year-over-year.
Valley Forge’s online casino partners — FanDuel Casino PA and Stardust Casino — made $18.4 million in June, down 13.1% from the preceding month ($21.1 million). They were also down year-over-year by 1.7% ($15 million).
