Pennsylvania sportsbooks posted their strongest July on record, handling $509.5 million in wagers. The board said taxable sports wagering revenue reached $51.8 million, up 27.8% from July 2025, and that total gaming revenue including fantasy contests was $591.1 million, 6% higher than a year earlier.

As reported in June, handle had already rebounded even as taxable revenue slipped to about $31 million. July pushed the market further back toward normal, with taxable revenue rising 67% from June and the state staying above $500 million in wagers for a 12th straight month.

Industry coverage put July gross sports-betting revenue at $64.8 million and said the state collected a record $17.6 million in sports-betting tax, plus about $1 million for the local share assessment. The board’s monthly release listed $18.7 million in sports wagering taxes collected and total tax revenue from all forms of gaming at $256.8 million.

Online betting stayed concentrated at the top. FanDuel edged DraftKings with $165.7 million in online handle, compared with $163.8 million for DraftKings, and FanDuel’s 15.3% hold produced more than $25 million in gross revenue. DraftKings held 11.8% and had its most profitable month since April. Retail betting was a small slice of the market, at $21.1 million, or 4.2% of the total, and three retail counters finished the month in the red.

RG.org said the two leaders took 67.5% of Pennsylvania’s online handle, with a 1.2% handle gap but a 32% revenue gap. Coverage linked the stronger July to the 2026 FIFA World Cup knockout rounds, which were more favorable to operators than June’s group stage. FanDuel accounted for 41% of all sports-betting tax collected.
