BetMGM Adds Live-Streamed Slots Option for Pennsylvania Players

BetMGM’s Oct. 13 third-quarter update highlighted a live-streamed slots option for Pennsylvania customers, allowing them to play physical casino machines remotely through BetMGM Casino Pennsylvania.

The format applies the live-video connection familiar from dealer-led table games to slot machines. BetMGM’s August partnership with Awager, an Aristocrat company, described a system that connects players to machines in regulated studio environments via live 4K video, machine audio and real-time responsiveness.

That partnership initially launched in New Jersey for BetMGM and Borgata Online users. The company’s October update subsequently listed Pennsylvania among the markets offering the live-streamed-slots experience, although it did not provide Pennsylvania-specific revenue or game-level results.

Awager’s New Jersey launch included 50 cabinets across more than 30 titles, including Aristocrat Gaming’s Buffalo Ascension and Lightning Link. Those launch figures apply to the New Jersey offering, rather than establishing the size of the Pennsylvania inventory.

The Pennsylvania casino also recently added branded slot releases including Blueprint Gaming’s Game of Thrones title and Games Global’s The Traitors Faithful Riches. BetMGM called its Game of Thrones rollout across the United States, Ontario and Alberta its most successful game-franchise launch. The Pennsylvania game uses six reels and 4,096 ways to win, with cash-collection features linked to Westeros houses and an Iron Throne Spins round.

The Traitors Faithful Riches went live on BetMGM Casino and Borgata Online in Pennsylvania on Sept. 17. As reported in September, it was the first release under BetMGM’s All3Media International agreement covering The Traitors intellectual property across slots, table games and other casino formats. The game has five reels, four rows and 1,024 ways to win, and BetMGM has said further titles based on the franchise are planned.

The feature update came alongside rising iGaming revenue. BetMGM, jointly owned by MGM Resorts International and Entain, reported third-quarter online-casino net revenue of $483 million, up 6% from $454 million a year earlier. Nine-month iGaming revenue rose 8% to about $1.45 billion.

Total quarterly net revenue was $710 million, up 7%, while adjusted EBITDA more than doubled to $86 million. Online sports revenue rose 7% to $216 million. iGaming accounted for roughly 68% of the company’s total quarterly revenue.

The customer measures showed differing results depending on their scope. BetMGM’s official update put average monthly actives across all products at 878,000, down 3% year on year from 902,000, while PlayPennsylvania reported average monthly casino customers rose 2% and casino net revenue per active customer increased 4%. BetMGM defines average monthly actives as unique monthly users regardless of the product they played.

The company also said average daily actives were 28% higher in the third quarter than in February, before its brand refresh, and cited improvements to product speed, stability and responsiveness ahead of the football season.
