Poker players in Pennsylvania have not one but two great tournament series to look forward to this month. The WSOP PA Online Circuit Series running February 18 – March 1, giving players a shot at winning one of 12 WSOP Gold Rings. Running concurrently, Pennsylvanians have yet another epic tournament lined up on the virtual felt — kicking off on February 20 and lasting through March 6, the WSOP PA Winter Championships will feature 46 tournaments in total, with the guaranteed prize pool of $650,000 spread across all the events.

The winner of the $150K guaranteed Main Event will also take home the first WSOP PA Winter Championship Belt to be awarded in 2022.

Each day for the duration of the series, there will be at least three tournaments taking place, so there will be plenty of round-the-clock action.

The range of buy-ins is spread nicely as well to allow players of all bankrolls to get involved in the action — some events have buy-ins as low as $11 and, on the other end of the spectrum, a couple of $1,000 events to entice the high-rollers.

Affordable Multi-flight Main Event

The WSOP Winter Championships Series Main Event will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000, which, if history is any indicator, is likely to be shattered. There is even more reason to believe this could be the case as the tournament will offer multiple Day 1 flights with buy-ins of just $100. Players who bust out will also be able to re-enter.

From February 21 until March 6, one Day 1 flight will take place every day, giving all interested players plenty of opportunities to get involved and get their seat for Day 2 on March 6. On that day, a winner will be crowned and the prized Championship Belt awarded (which will be sent to the player’s home address).

The coveted WSOP PA belt makes for a particularly fine piece of memorabilia that surely many players will be trying to take home. The expected-to-be-massive first-place money also offers a nice incentive, as it will certainly provide a solid boost to any player’s bankroll.

Of course, there will be satellites running around the clock on WSOP.com, offering PA poker players a chance to snag a Day 1 seat at a discount, and undoubtedly increasing the number of total entries and the resulting prize pool.

Other Notable WSOP PA Winter Championship Series 2022 Tournaments

Depending on their budget and preferences, WSOP PA players can decide which tournaments on the schedule they want to play. Besides the Main Events, several other events are likely to generate some interest:

  • February 20: Event #1 — $11 Warmup (R&A) ($11K guaranteed)
  • February 20, 27, & March 6: Events #3, #24 & #45 — $1000 6-max High Roller ($30K guaranteed)
  • February 22 & March 1: Events #9 & #30 — $55 Mini Tuesday Showdown ($10K guaranteed)
  • February 20 & 27: Events #2 & #23 — $215 Sunday Special ($75K guaranteed)
  • March 6: Event #43 — $11 Warmup (R&A) ($22,222 guaranteed)

Those players with smaller bankrolls can still take part in the action via daily $10 Warmup events, with somewhat modest guaranteed prize pools of $3,000. However, with these warmups featuring rebuys and add-ons, guarantees will likely be broken in quite a few of them.

All in all, the WSOP PA Winter Championships Series promises some quality poker action across the board. The $650,000 guarantee is very solid on its own, but it is also quite likely that many events will surpass their guarantees.

Of course, there might be a few of them with overlays as well, which is not great news for the operator, but it certainly is for those players looking for value wherever they can find it.
