The popular Washington County racino The Meadows, which was acquired by Penn National Gaming back in 2019, is changing its name and re-opening with Penn National’s flagship brand as Hollywood Casino at the Meadows on Friday, October 15.

The name change was first announced on Twitter by General Manager Tony Frabbiele, who posted a video about all the upcoming and recent changes at the venue, which has been active as a racetrack since 1963.

The rebranding is scheduled for official announcement on Friday, with an event at the casino entrance and several events that will follow it up over the coming days.

Hollywood Casino at the Meadows upgrades

The Meadows has been offering horse race betting, sports betting, and casino games in different capacities over the decades since it opened, and has evolved into a real casino complex worthy of the finest Las Vegas properties.

Over the recent years, the property has changed a great deal, and Penn National Gaming decided it was time to change the name and the brand of the facility to go hand-in-hand with its current status.

The Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, as the property will soon be called, now hosts a fully-fledged Barstool Sportsbook in the middle of the gaming floor, along with the H Lounge and hundreds of new slot machines that offer countless different gaming options.

The facility has also upgraded its eating options, with the food court being replaced by The Eatery by Fabio Viviani, which will include several restaurants including Mercato, The Classic, Joe & Dough, and Zen Noodle.

Big Promotions for the rebranding

Penn National has planned out a pair of fun promotions to make the day special for all who decide to attend.

The initial rebranding will be announced early in the morning, at 9 am. Starting at 4 pm, the casino will organize a Family Fun Night, with live harness racing, puppy races, a silent auction, and special food and beverages delivered in food trucks. This event will last until 7 pm.

For all the players, the casino will launch a Hollywood Hot Seat promotion between 5 and 8 pm on the casino floor, and Hollywood Card Night between 6 and 10 pm in the table games pit.

Following these promotions on the very day of the rebranding, additional promotions will roll out throughout October, which are yet to be announced.

Penn National an industry leader

The parent company behind Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, Penn National Gaming, has further solidified its position as Pennsylvania’s number one gaming company over the past year.

Last August, Penn National announced plans to acquire Score Media in a cash-and-stock deal valued at nearly $2 billion. The deal includes acquiring theScore’s fully integrated betting and media platform and is designed to help bolster Penn National’s Barstool sports betting brand.

On top of that, the company is improving its live casino offering with the launch of Hollywood Casino York last August, and the upcoming launch of Hollywood Casino Morgantown which is scheduled for late 2021.
