For the third year in a row, PokerStars is launching its prestigious Championship of Online Poker (COOP) series in the US, with the operator offering separate series for platers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Michigan.

This year’s edition of the PACOOP (Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker) will be the third iteration of the popular series in the state, with previous two being huge successes in their own respect.

As in previous years, players in all three states will only be playing against other players from their states, with the Pennsylvania events expected to draw in the largest crowds.

The PACOOP 2021 schedule currently boasts 69 events in total, with the series running between September 10 and 27, and various poker formats such as NLH, PLO, 5 Card Draw, FLH, Mixed Games and more on the schedule.

In total, the series is set to offer $2 million in guaranteed prize pools, with buy-ins ranging between $10 for the most affordable events and $1,000 for the high-roller tournament.

The PACOOP series will culminate in a $300 buy-in Main Event, which is scheduled for September 26 and boasts a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000, exceeding the guarantees of the New Jersey and Michigan counterparts.

The Main Event will be one of the seven trophy events, which will have special trophies awarded to the winners in addition to the prize money. Apart from the Main Event, winners of tournaments like the $50 Big Kickoff, $250 6-Max Championship, $250 PLO Highroller and the $1,000 NLH Highroller will all receive their PACOOP champion’s trophies.

PACOOP 2021 Breaking Records

The 2021 edition of PACOOP is expected to break records. The two previous versions of the tournament were slightly shorter (just 50 events), and the guaranteed prize pools were $1.2 and $1.5 million, respectively.

This year’s $2 million guarantee will be the highest so far, although the total prizes awarded in 2020 exceeded the $2 million mark in the end. This year, we expect that number to go even higher as players are attracted to the extended schedule.

The PACOOP will also overshadow the Michigan and New Jersey editions of the series, with players in Michigan playing for their share of $1.5 million in total guarantees, and those in New Jersey competing for $1 million in total guaranteed prizes.

Affordable Ways into PACOOP

As always, PokerStars PA is launching a number of lucrative promotions that can help players make their way into PACOOP without paying hefty buy-in fees. The promotions are:

  • Second Chance Freerolls: PACOOP players who don’t make money will receive a ticket to a Second Chance Freeroll. Each Freeroll will have a prize pool worth $5,000 in tickets to the PACOOP tournament;
  • 3 Spin & Gos: Players will have a chance of winning a PACOOP Main Event ticket as their random prize from entering the $3 version of Spin & Gos throughout September; and
  • Depositors Freerolls: Through September 26, players who deposit at least $30 and use the promo code PACOOP will receive an entry ticket into a PACOOP freeroll. Fifty Main Event tickets will be handed out to the top finishers.
