PokerStars PA has unveiled a new online poker tournament series, Champions Preseason, which includes up to $400,000 in guaranteed prize money.
The new series, which coincides with the start of preseason NFL football, begins August 12 and runs through August 23. The series includes $100,000 guaranteed at a Champions Preseason Main Event, which will be held on August 22.
The new series comes before the third iteration of the Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker (PACOOP), which is expected to be launched soon. The operator held PACOOP in November and December in 2019, and in September and October last year.
Main Event: $6k Depositor Freeroll
During the Main Event Depositor Freeroll on August 22, PokerStars PA will be giving away 30 Main Event seats for Champions Preseason. Each seat is worth $200. Interested players can get their ticket to the event by making a deposit of $30 or more using the Bonus Code “CHAMPIONS.”
New players to PokerStars will receive a free ticket to the Main Event Depositor Freeroll after creating their account. The deadline for making the deposit is 1:59 pm ET on August 22.
The terms and conditions of the promotion stipulate that the top 30 players from the Main Event Depositor Freeroll tournament will win entry into the Champions Preseason Main Event via a Main Event ticket voucher. In the event that a user wins multiple Champions Preseason Main Event entry tickets, any subsequent ticket can be exchanged for tournament money. Players who do not win entry to the Main Event via the promotion can still participate in the event through a $200 buy-in.
The new series is also being launched at the same time in Michigan and New Jersey but with less in guaranteed prize money. There will be $300,000 up for grabs in Michigan, while players in New Jersey will compete for $150,000.
Challenges in the new series
PokerStars PA said that when players participate in Champions Preseason events they will receive tickets to the PACOOP. The operators said players that participate in:
- one Champions Preseason event will be given one PACOOP Kickoff Freeroll ticket;
- three Champions Preseason events will receive a $3 PACOOP Spin & Go ticket; and
- five Champions Preseason events will get a $10 PACOOP Warm-up ticket.
Players must opt-in to the Champions Preseason Tournament Challenge from their Challenges window in the PokerStars client to enter the promotion, and must complete at least one of the three tournament challenges.
NFL Tickets up for grabs
PokerStars PA said the winner of the Champions Preseason Main Event will receive prize money and two tickets to a professional football game of their choice.
According to the promotion’s terms and conditions, the NFL tickets cannot exceed $1,000 in value. Winning players will not receive the difference should the tickets selected be valued at less than $1,000.
Champions Preseason Freeroll tournament
Another shot at winning free bets is on offer from PokerStars PA. A Champions Preseason Freeroll tournament will be held on August 12 with $1,000 in cash up top and $10 in free sports bets for the top 100 spots.
The terms and conditions of the promotion require players to register and participate in eligible Champions Preseason tournaments. If they finish within the top 100, they will receive a single sportsbook free bet valued at $10.
